Domaine des Chesnaies was one of the first producers in the part of the central Loire Valley to commercialize their own bottlings. The estate is currently run by fifth-generation Philippe Boucard, whose ancestors surnames precede his own on the label (Lamé, Delisle). After two decades farming sustainably, with no chemicals in the vineyards (terra vitis), the estate has attained organic certification beginning with the 2021 vintage. Theirs is a most traditional of winemaking regimens, with slow aging in neutral tronconic wooden vessels and only a minimal filtration before bottling. For a wine with as much depth of mineral character and endless aging potential, one would expect to pay 3-4 times as much per bottle.
This is only the third vintage of this cuvée from a single, south-facing vineyard.
