Vineyard: The monopole Tre Stelle Cru used to part of the highly priced Rio Sordo Cru until 2005 when the Consorzio and the Enoteca Regionale del Barbaresco divided the two vineyards. Tre Stelle possesses one of the best exposures in Barbaresco. The soil is of marine origin, characterized by bluish marls, meager and compact limestone. The stratification is dense and complex, rich in minerals.
Vinification: No herbicides are used, and they only use a minimal amount of copper and sulfur in the vineyard - aiming towards as minimal an environmental impact as possible. Manual harvest. Fermented with skins for three weeks with remontage. Aged in Slavonian botti of 10-20HL for 20 months followed by at least 8 months in bottle before release. No clarification or filtering before bottling.
Tasting Notes: Bright garnet red with orange highlights, lithe and balanced tannins, notes of roses and violets, ripe plum, licorice, tobacco and chocolate. Spicy with elegant ethereal notes. Remarkable persistence. Great character; delicate.
