Winemaker note: Rosé, like so many things in life, is a SPECTRUM. Don't be fooled into thinking it should be a certain color or flavor. Some grapes are darker than others. Some grapes have more tannin than others. Some grapes have spicier, more rose petal-y herbaceous-ness and savory tones to them. Some grapes make for a more structural, intriguing, age-able, versatile rosé. When I say "some grapes," of course I'm talking about Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Souzao...the grapes that go into this very rosé right here. For the first time ever, the 2018 saw the addition of this Tinta Roriz (that's how you say "Tempranillo" if you live in Portugal). Matthew Rorick of Forlorn Hope fame farms a bit of this grape way up in the Sierra Foothills at his Rorick Heritage Vineyard and I couldn't be happier to have his energy bottled up in this wine. Oh yeah, one more thing. There is no such thing as "rosé season." It's a farce. Anyone that says those words is not to be trusted. Don't get me wrong. I want you to buy all of it and as quickly as possible (wink) but rosé is a legitimate wine worthy of being consumed year round. It shouldn't be relegated solely to summery porches and shimmery bodies of water. Sock a few bottles away for the fall. Hide them deep in the wine racks to drink throughout the winter. You won't be bummed you did...promise. 450 cases lovingly made.
