VARIETAL: Chardonnay (70%), Sauvignon Blanc (30%)
VINEYARD: Sourced from 3 vineyards all located in California’s northernmost AVA of Redwood Valley (Mendocino): Kazmet and Hawkeye Ranches for the old vine Chardonnay, and Upton Vineyard for the old vine Sauvignon Blanc. Kazmet is a certified organic, head-pruned, dry-farmed site, and Hawkeye is an organically-farmed, Fish Friendly Farming Certified vineyard. , naturally stunning high-elevation site boasting a large diurnal temperature shift of 50 degrees, providing excellent fruit maturation while maintaining impeccable balance. Upton Vineyard farms ten acres of certified organic (in 1990), dry-farmed Sauvignon Blanc planted in 1969. They are a full-fledged organic farm, which besides viticulture, also raises bees and chickens and grows fruit, olive, and walnut trees.
Organic and sustainable viticulture is a long-standing practice for the winegrowers in Redwood Valley. With its naturally stunning, high-elevation sites providing large diurnal temperature shifts of 50º, the environment for fruit to achieve excellent balanced maturation, is an enviable one indeed. We are proud to represent Vinca Minor’s newest small production white wine to the Oz family.
VINIFICATION: Fruit was direct pressed and fermented in combination neutral french oak and stainless steel. Aged 5 months before being bottled, unfined and unfiltered, with 10 ppm of sulfur added.
