Bruno Rochard’s first career was as a special needs teacher in Haut-Savoie. He leapt at the chance to take over the family domaine in 1998, when his parents retired. At the time the 30 hectare domaine consisted of 9 hectares of conventionally-farmed vines (the rest was and is forest and field). Following the advice of neighbor and friend Richard Leroy, Bruno began working (plowing) his vines in 2002. He converted to organic farming in 2006 and became certified in 2009. Over the years he has reduced the domaine by roughly one-third, to a size which he feels is the most he can work to his level of quality.
