Friardel is a high-branched orchard, planted by Benoit’s grandfather in 1965 and continuously farmed by his family since. The average age of the apple trees is 50 years old.
Apple Varieties: 49% bitter (Mettais, Frèquin...), 36% bittersweet (Binet Rouge, Bisquet), 15% tart (Rambeau, René Martin)
Terroir: Located in the Friardel commune, low-branched trees, soil of silt, flint, clay with chalk bedrock
Cider-making: Indigenous yeasts for both fermentations, bottled by gravity, 12 months on fine lees in bottle, disgorged.
