2015 Clos Saron "Black Pearl"

Black Pearl is an elevated cuvée in the Clos Saron portfolio. one of their earliest wines, and the exact wine that brought the Mockrishes (eventually Frenchtown Farm) to their door. Black Pearl has always been something special, but this vintage is even a step beyond, as Gideon writes: “I honestly believe that this wine will in time prove to be among the very finest and longest lived of Clos saron wine.” A co-fermentation of syrah and cabernet sauvignon from Renaissance Vineyard, this vintage was foot-stomped rather than de-stemmed/crushed like earlier vintages. That one difference in the processing of the fruit resulted in much superior focus, structure, and clarity of expression in the finished wine.
