2022 Canneto Rosso di Montepulciano

Canneto is a picturesque estate on the western slopes of Montepulciano that has been used as a backdrop both films and tv advertisements. But the beauty here is no shiny veneer; a lot of hard work goes into organically growing the grapes and maintaining the vineyards. This particular offering is mainly composed of prugnolo gentile (the local clone of sangiovese) with some merlot thrown in as well. Fans of Tuscan reds, and this region in particular will be delighted by the characteristic cherry and red fruit flavors with some berries and a hint of spice as well. Boasting vibrant acidity and ample soft tannin, this would be a delight with with a steak dinner but if that's not your bag then pop the cork the next time you are having a hearty pasta dinner with red sauce, or some eggplant parm.
