Description

Azienda Agricola Vadiaperti is located in the mountainous Irpinia sub-region of Campania in southern Italy. Raffaele Troisi is the latest family member to helm this operation with a lineage going back a century. In fact, his great-grandfather Antonio kicked off this tradition via the import business back in the early 1900's. He moved to the US and began importing wines from Irpinia. He also owned vineyards back home but these grapes were sold to co-ops until 1984 when his son Antonio Jr. produced the first Vadiaperti estate bottling. Before Raffaele took the reins in the mid 90's, he completed a degree in Chemistry and it’s this training along with his family’s peasant knowledge that show through in his pure and precise wines. Raffaele works with the native Campanian varieties such as Coda di Volpe and Fiano di Avellino (a wine you’ll frequently see on our shelves) as well as this exemplary falanghina. It pours a lovely gold color and has fruity, floral and mineral notes that will hopefully be a transportive taste of summer in the dead of winter. This is a natural seafood pairing (scallops, shrimp, fish, etc) but will also go well with fresh cheeses like buffalo mozzarella, burrata or goat cheese.
