WE DELIVER TO JAMAICA PLAIN, ROXBURY, WEST ROXBURY, ROSLINDALE, AND BROOKLINE!
Herdade dos Coelheiros is an ancient property that has changed hands only a few times since the 15th Century, when it was awarded as a dowry to an important couple in the history of early post-Columbus Spain/Portugal relations. Vineyard activity is documented from the late 19th Century, with purposeful commercial vine growing commencing in 1981. The current owners have brought this historic land to modernity, reflecting a profound interest in regenerative and organic agriculture. The current batch of wines includes a white, a rose, and this red, which is a vibrant blend of touriga nacional and touriga franca, two of Portugal's most prized native varieties. Many wines made with this sort of blend in Alentejo are marred by overripeness and an unhealthy affinity for new oak, both avoided here to present the most transparent and untarnished version of their vineyards' yield. This bright, joyful red may be best served with fresh herb-laden pork or lamb, though we could see it working just as well with grilled fish and vegetables.
