2023 Hugel "Gentil" Alsace

The Hugel family has over 370 years and 13 generations of winemaking experience in Alsace. This is to our great benefit, as they have crafted the perfect introduction to the region with their "Gentil" blend ("Gentil" being the ancient name for blends assembled from noble grape varieties). The grapes were gathered from a dozen vineyard sites around the family hometown of Riquewihr. In their words: "Hugel "Gentil" allies the suave, spicy flavour of Gewurztraminer, the body of Pinot Gris, the finesse of Riesling, the grapiness of Muscat and the refreshing character of Pinot Blanc and Sylvaner." It's medium-bodied, dry as a bone, juicy, and fresh, with citrus notes and floral aromatics. It's a great pairing for cheese (washed rind alpine, gruyere or gouda) as well as Asian cuisine or just as an aperitif.
