2024 Agostino Pavia Barbera d'Asti "Casareggio"

Giuseppe and Mauro Pavia’s family run winery is located in the commune of Agiano Terme a mere 7 miles from Asti. Unsurprisingly given the location, barbera is their bread and butter, and this easygoing example of the grape might be your new weeknight favorite. This is an incredibly easy-to-enjoy wine that sees four months of oak aging to give it a bit more heft, but the bright cherry and berry fruit is front and center here. Some wines tell a story, and maybe this one tells a pretty good one. But as far as I’m concerned this is just a well made dinner companion that will likely play second fiddle to some good conversation on nights when you just want to destroy a takeout pizza or perhaps some pasta with sauce straight from the jar.
