2024 Font Mars Picpoul de Pinet

Domaine Font Mars is one of those annoyingly picturesque places in the South of France complete with an ancient chateau and the Mediterranean just out of reach. Who wouldn't want to be here? So it's really no wonder that fossilized dinosaur eggs were discovered in the area in 1859. The clay-limestone soils that are excellent for growing not only dinosaurs, but also the picpoul grape prevalent in this part of the Langedoc. This is a classic southern French white, that's a little bit floral, a little bit fruity, a little bit acidic, but not too much of anything. Perfect for most summertime meals, you can't really go wrong having this be the first wine of the evening with appetizers and salads, and if it's also the second wine of the evening too I suspect you won't be too upset.
