The most significant evolution in the RLW portfolio is the decision to resist the excruciating pressure to immediately release one's rose the spring after harvest. This delicious pink wine is from the 2024 harvest, given a full year in bottle to even out and find its rhythm. Winemakers gripe all the time about how frustrating it is to have so much pressure placed on young rose. It forces them into a limited bandwidth of style and all because the wine drinking world has created some kind of demonstrably untrue narrative that pink wine is undrinkable a year later. Nonsense. In an effort to present something that is balanced, lively and resolved, Evan has begun the practice of holding his rose back for a year. This pink wine is a directly pressed blend of Portuguese varieties grown at the legendary Fox Hill Vineyard in Mendocino. Evan calls 2024 a ‘banner year’ for this cuvée in particular.
