Clos Roussely was orignally an outbuilding for a giant castle in the heart of the village of Angé-sur-Cher. As such, the winery has some incredible features like stone walls that are over 4.5 feet thick, and 250 year old hand dug caves that make it perfectly insulated from the summer heat in ways I can only dream of in my in no way air-conditioned JP triple decker. I'm ready to visit! Family patriarch Anatole Roussely purchased the building in 1917 with the intention of turning it into a winemaking facility and indeed he did and it became the family business, now run by his great-grandson Vincent. We've dabbled with selling Vincent Roussely's "L'Escale" Sauvignon Blanc in the past, as it is a great value wine and the bread and butter of his 8 hectare estate. With 80% of his vines dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc, you might think a rosé of Pineau d'Aunis and Cabernet Franc might be just an afterthought here... Wrong! Bursting with grapefruit and pepper with excellent acidity, this is a great wine for all season, but Spring and Summer in particular. A veritable patio pounder, be sure to chug it while eating corn on the cob for all we care! It's time to dance!
