Note from Chertok winemaker Max Rose:
Midrash is a concept in Judaism, a form of exegesis wherein a confusing or incomplete segment of the text is enriched through creative writing. Think of it as holy fan fiction and you’re in the right ballpark. For Chertok Wines, Midrash will function as our label for experiments and novel opportunities. This is pure Marquette, picked quite late from an organic vineyard up in Grand Isle, Vermont. Marquette usually gets compared to Pinot Noir but I feel like rhubarb Barbera is much more accurate and with the late harvest it’s edging on Ripasso territory.
